All eyes are on how Bergevin will deal with Markov situation.

With Markov, Habs are a bubble team. Without Markov??, i don't know. Probably worst. But one thing is clear in my mind : being a bubble team is probably the worst possible scenario.

I say trade Markov at the deadline to get pieces that will be usefull at the right time in the future.

Keeping Markov makes absolutely no sense and there is no way his presence for 3-4 more years become positive for the team.

If MB does not trade him, i will be convinced that it is Gauthier's era all over again.

The result of Desharnais' success has been a drastic plummet in Lars Eller's play. Eller, who took incredible strides last season before it all came to an end with a devastating blow to the head delivered by Eric Gryba, started this season on fire. But since adjustments have been made to revive Desharnais, Eller's game has completely fallen off the map, and it's not all due to the linemates he's been saddled with.

I'm not sure I understand... Eller sucks because of Desharnais?

Gallagher is a big reason why DD woke up like he was a reason why Eller was doing well with Galchenyuk

i'm never quite sure what to make of all this talk of Bergevin's "plan". drafting is not a plan. it's something every team does. at some point, Bergevin will have to get active. he's already 2 years into his tenure and the possibility of the Canadiens missing the playoffs in an ugly fashion is very real. at best, we're looking at a first-round wipeout with virtually no organic growth from one season to the next. then the heat gets turned up on him. that was the situation when Gainey dealt McDonagh for Gomez. my fear is that Bergevin is travelling down the same road, waiting too long to make necessary moves.

It was the plan B all along in the case Desharnais was to outplay Eller.

i think Eric's point is that there are only 2-3 decent wingers on this team, and DD plays with 2 of them at all time. doesn't leave much support for Eller. not saying i agree, i just think that's the point he's trying to make.

Exactly.

We miss 2 wingers. Galchenyuk is one of them. The other one will come by trading Markov.

Eller should be playing with Lafleur and Shutt. THEN, you'll see his numbers take off.

Agreed 100%

Panic moves have been negatively affecting this franchise for the last decade. This team needs more than one trade and must accept the fact that they have no chance winning the cup this season. All trade bait must be traded before Match 5. Will Bergevin bite the bullet and accept being a seller as he should be? Doubt it.

No, Eller's struggling because he's stuck trying to be something he's not.

Bet they could score before Bourque does. (frank), that guy couldn't score on a soccer net right now.

But my question is, what is he exactly?

His offensive numbers have always been mediocre at every level he played, he's got size, and he's OK defensively.

Consider what Gainey got for Rivet.

It's not all about who he's playing with and who he's not playing with.

Did you watch him closely yesterday?
He looks so lost. He has to be the guy Therrien wants him to be, and the kind of minutes he plays lend more to him being a defensive guy than an offensive one. And it's killing him, really. He looks like he's starting to feel sorry for himself...
